It’s a holiday indeed. After you have saved money on your pumpkins (that sounds dirty) at Trader Joes (for 2.99), and your candy at 99 Cent Store (duh….for 99 CENTS), and your costume that you might have made from scratch (how many years in a row was I a HOBO anyway?)….then please ponder this——-

What the HELL happened to UNICEF???? We put out a dish of candy AND a dish of pennies and nickels…..I know that I am 500 years old and all…..but we wouldn’t CONSIDER going out to trick-or-treat without our orange UNICEF boxes…..

We learned from a VERY early age that literally TEN CENTS could change the life of some faceless child all the way in Africa or South America……what the HELL HAPPENED TO US LEARNING AND KNOWING THAT?????

So, this weekend, while your little ones become ghosts and goblins, or better yet, if YOU become one, take a moment to realize, as hard as it may be to get by in these times, you most definitely have a computer, and at least SOMETHING to eat…..UNICEF taught us about giving and charity, and in a much more subtle way, that putting together small amounts of money can help to save the world and each other….and in these times, even ourselves…….

Maybe if I ever get to be famous enough then that will be my “thing”, just getting those orange boxes back into the hands of kids everywhere, it kills me that they went away——and I hadn’t thought about them till this week——I have a feeling poor Nathen will be lugging one around next year…….
